Hi, I’m Mikaela — a Learning Systems Designer & Digital Creative

I design and build learning management systems and digital learning environments from the ground up — combining system architecture, user experience, visual design, and instructional strategy into cohesive, human-centred platforms.

My strongest and most rewarding work sits at the intersection of strategy, design, and delivery — partnering with organisations who want to build or rethink their learning platforms from scratch.

In these projects, I take responsibility for the full lifecycle: discovery, system design, learning architecture, visual experience, build, testing, and handover. I’ve done this successfully for Wood Training New Zealand, and I’m always open to similar contract-based projects with organisations that value trust, clarity, and quality.

Alongside full platform builds, I also work flexibly across:

instructional and learning experience design
LMS configuration, optimisation, and governance
digital and graphic design for learning, marketing, and communications
illustration and digital art, including portrait and editorial-style work.

This range allows me to support organisations at different stages — whether that’s a full system build, embedded design support, or targeted creative work.

My background spans higher education, industry training organisations, and independent consultancy. I’ve worked closely with senior leaders, administrators, tutors, designers, and developers — which means I design systems and assets that are not only visually strong, but practical, maintainable, and aligned with real organisational constraints.
